Game development, from a napkin sketch to launch day.

ActiveEdge designs and builds casual, puzzle and social games for brands, publishers and communities. You get the same studio, the same engineers and the same standards that produced Pixel Cascade, applied to your idea.

What we build

We focus on games that are quick to learn and comfortable to play on a phone. If your project fits one of these three shapes, we are probably a good match.

Casual and puzzle games

Single-rule games with real depth: tile matching, path drawing, sorting, logic grids and physics toys. Ideal as a standalone release or as the heart of a larger product.

  • Original mechanic design and tuning
  • Level generation or hand-built level sets
  • Score, progression and replay systems without paywalls

Social and community games

Games meant to be played around other people: shared boards, friendly leaderboards, daily puzzles and pass-the-phone party formats that do not depend on real-money mechanics.

  • Daily and weekly challenge formats
  • Local multiplayer and asynchronous turns
  • Moderation-friendly design with no chat by default

Branded playables

A short game that lives on your own site or inside a campaign page. Built to load fast, work without an app store and carry your visual identity without feeling like an advert.

  • Embedded directly in your page, no iframe required
  • Lightweight: typically under 150 KB including art
  • Accessibility and performance audits included

Five stages, one team, no hand-offs

The same people design, build and ship your game. Each stage ends with something you can play, not a slide deck.

  1. 1

    Brief and discovery

We read your request, ask a handful of questions and reply with a short written proposal: scope, timeline and a fixed estimate. No charge for this stage.

  2. 2

    Paper prototype

The core rule is tested with sketches and a throwaway build. You see whether the idea is fun before any art or engineering money is spent.

  3. 3

    Grey-box build

A fully playable version with placeholder visuals. Pacing, difficulty and scoring are tuned here, with you playing every milestone build.

  4. 4

    Art, sound and polish

Original artwork, motion and interface are layered onto the proven mechanic. We check contrast, touch targets, reduced-motion behaviour and load time.

  5. 5

    Launch and support

We deliver source files, hosting guidance and a plain-language handover document, then stay available for fixes after release.

What you receive

Every engagement ends with the complete game and everything needed to run it without us: readable source code, original art files, a short technical handover and a rules document you can publish next to the game. We do not lock clients into hosting, licences or retainer contracts.

  • Full source code with no obfuscation and no third-party runtime fees
  • Original assets in editable formats, plus web-optimised exports
  • Accessibility notes and a performance report for the final build
  • A clear statement of what the game does and does not store about players

Project request

Tell us about your game

A few sentences are enough to start. Describe what you want players to feel, where the game will live and when you need it. We will reply by email with questions or a proposal.

Before you send a request

How long does a typical project take?

It depends on scope, which is why we start with a free written proposal. A branded playable built on an existing mechanic is the shortest kind of project; an original casual game with its own art direction takes longer because the prototype stage must prove the idea first.

What do you need from us to begin?

A description of the audience, the feeling you want the game to create, where it will be hosted and any brand guidelines. Reference games you like are useful. You do not need a design document; we will write one with you.

Do you build gambling, betting or real-money games?

No. We do not design or build real-money gaming, betting, casino-style or prize-draw products, and we do not add simulated gambling mechanics to casual games.

Who owns the finished game?

You do. On final payment the source code, artwork and design documents are transferred to you in full. We may ask to list the project in our portfolio, but only with your written agreement.
